Since the federal congressional committee seems unable to come up with ways to trim the federal deficit, how about we give them some ideas.

1) Eliminate the Department of Energy.  It was tasked by Pres. Jimmy Carter  c.1977 with finding ways to lessen our dependence on foreign oil.  How has that worked out for you?

     SAVINGS - $27-billion in 2011 budget, so over 10 years is $270-billion

2) Eliminate the Department of Education.  Their most recent initiative was the now proven failure of a federal program known as No Child Left Behind.  Every State in the country has their own Dept. of Education, and local citizens control what they want from their schools by electing locals to run their districts.

     SAVINGS - $69-billion in 2011 budget, so over 10 years is $690-billion

3)  Immediately cut the salaries and expenses of all elected federal officials and their office staff by 10%.  Allow them to recoup the lost salary at the rate of 1% for every one percent improvement in the jobless rate.  That should get their attention enough to work together at finding ways to allow business to create more jobs.  Give them another one percent back for every $1-trillion reduction in the federal deficit. Problem solved, and I bet they find common ground real quick.

     SAVINGS - Unable to calculate.

So, there we have it, eliminate two worthless U.S. cabinet level Departments, make our elected officials (and their staff) feel our pain for awhile, and within weeks we can be on the path to a solid recovery.  Total savings over ten years estimated to be over $1-trillion, and virtually painless.

Why can't the deficit committee come up with this?

No additional ideas?  I thought the liberals were all about saving money and cutting budgets?  No ideas, no plans, no concepts, no theories, nothing...except maybe blame the radical right and Tea Party, but offer no alternatives, and scream about the radical right?  That's Hope and Change leadership for you all right.

COME ON!

PUT UP OR ...........

Try this one.  How about the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is told to stop all new (job killing) regulations and decide which 10% of current regulations they will repeal.  Then give it 6 months, and if job growth is not apparent, cut another 10% of their regulations.  Continue at 10% every 6 months until real job growth occurs and then stop there.  No new regulations, no new enforcement tactics, in fact, maybe disband and leave it to the the States to determine their EPA regulations.  What a novel idea...... States Rights.  Where did that concept come from?

Take note, folks.  No ideas, no plans, no concepts, just NO (from the real and original party of NO).

Oh wait, there is a concept...just raise taxes.  Rolling back the Bush-era tax cuts should do it.  I can prove that will increase my federal taxes by about $1,000 per year, and I will pay them.  Stand by, because I will also then roll back my charitable giving to make up for the increase in taxes, so that money will come directly out of local programs and projects.  Out of liberals and conservatives, which group do you think gives more to local non-profits?  Oh, oh, oh, we can also get rid of the tax deduction for charitable giving to increase taxes.  Problem solved!!!!

Note that this forum has apparently been viewed by national presidential campaigns!

These ideas are the same ones picked up by candidate Rick Perry.

It is NOT proper or correct to view them as an endorsement of his campaign.

Let's go one step further and address health care.  Instead of the Affordable Care Act (known as ObamaCare), try this concept.  Our health care providers talk about the most serious health risks being control of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar (diabetes), and overweight.  How about we pay for health care for those who actively address those health issues?  If a person refuses to follow the doctor's orders or prescriptions to control those things, then they do not get free health care.  By eating right, controlling blood pressure (maybe by meds, losing weight and exercise), changing diet and/or taking meds to control cholesterol, change in diet, meds, and exercise to control diabetes, and losing weight, only then will a person be given free medical care.  Patient choice...eat right...exercise...lose weight...take the meds...or no free health care.  What a novel concept, patient choice!

Vote a Republican out of office and muzzle the extreme left liberal Democrats. Bring things back to center with a dose of common sense and compromise.

All of our country's economic woes can be solved with a hefty tax increase and an "Occupy Wal Mart" movement.  Get all that factory production moved back here.  We created this problem with our pocketbooks, and can fix it the same way.
