Has anyone heard any rumors about a new animal shelter a possibility in Clinton.  Supposedly a building has been found.
Also, I would like some follow up from the Clinton Herald and the finances, who is running the place and what is going on with the current facility. Good god all the staff with experience walked out, who the hell is taking care of the animals???  Something else that is rumored, there is going to be something with Ashford volunteers working there.  Oh that will be fun.  I am sure the insurance company will have a cow with the liability issues on that one.
The Board at the shelter stated they were conducting an investigation and what are the results of that.

Any time in the past when the board said there would be an investigation, nothing ever happened. They were supposed to investigate a long time ago with something about finances and told the state they would conduct one, yeah right.  I remember drugs being stolen from the place, and nothing was ever reported by the shelter or the police about that.

So, maybe a call to the Herald to push a button and get them in gear on this once again.  Tax dollars people tax dollars.

We have not heard anything, but will do some asking.  First let us say, Luck to them.
Now let me say, are you kidding me.   If the director that walked off the job is involved, lets hope she is not running the place.  She was directly involved with the finacial ruin of the Clinton Humane Society. She admitted in the the paper she did not know how to run a business.  That is blatantly obvious.
They probably want a "no-kill" shelter.  They better look into the cost of that type of animal shelter.  Are they going to take animals with health issues, (Bartels certainly did not want to mess with the surgery for Miles, even if the money was raised by the community) are they going to take stray animals, biters or animals with behavior issues?   Or will they just take the most adoptable. My good friend volunteers at a shelter in Colorado, no-kill. Some animals live there for years, so that means they turn animals away to house an animal they cannot adopt. The facility is very expensive to run.  They use lots of volunteers, but that makes it own mess so to speak.  Volunteers may not show up for duties and then the whole facility goes topsy turvey.  Well, we will have to see what is shaking in the Clinton Animal World. This should and could be very interesting indeed.

Not an new humane society and brand new non-profit.  Such a great idea, but with a huge but.  The woman, past director of the humane society that walked off the job, and some of the employees are running it.  The humane society is supposedly doing an investigation on how the money was spent under her management!.   She ran the shelter into the ground, albeit not her fault entirely.  Then let us recall the woman that said in the board room that she did not think Miles should get his medical treatment, then the money was raised and she sat on the board that put him down!!!.  She is raising money for animals with medical issues, that is a bit hypocritical don't you think.  She has her little gang of fired or unhappy past employees with her.  Hell Clinton Herald, you best start doing some more digging and have another conversation with the shelter to see what the hell did happen up there.
Great idea, can not support it with this woman any where near it.

Well isn't this priceless.  All the past employees that got mad at the board, of which at one time Bartels was part of, are now part of this non-profit.  Maybe she can buy koozie cups and t-shirts with the donations.   We also are awaiting the results of the investigation.  It stated right in the Herald there were financial problems, all of them should be held accountable.  Board and admininstrator at the time.  If it is tax payer money then the city's liason should have access and it should become public knowledge.  Is the state involved now?  This is all as shaky at it can be.
