"Future railport will open Clinton County to the World"

Anyone catch this in Sunday's business section in the QC Times?

Here's what I got from it:

The U.P. got a railroad siding at a cost of $13 million - all tax dollars.

And this nifty quote, "Ames said the spur will enter the park near Clinton County Bio-Energy, a 10-million gallon bio-diesel plant. Built there a decade ago, it stands alone as the only tenant in the park to date."

Here's what Ames didn't say and the newspaper reporter neglected to find out.  It's a bust!  Started with taxpayer investment it closed very early on and later had a mysterious fire.  That's their one and only tenant.  And before any other company shows any interest in locating there it will take many, many more millions.  But hey, that's why the sewer rates keep going up.  Someone has to pay for putting a sewer in the railport.  Guess who?

How much taxpayer money was in the bio-energy plant when it went bust?  When was the "mysterious fire"?  What was the cost to the taxpayers for this fire?

Maybe you need to explain your connection of taxpayer money was really state and federal credits for clean, renewable energy production (small scale producer of bio-diesel fuel).

Does that mean you also are opposed to the subsidies paid to Solendra before it went bankrupt, or any of a dozen other clean energy wind or solar projects that the current federal administration spent your tax money on before they went belly up, or the new technology rechargeable battery plant that just closed and declared bankruptcy this week after your tax money was given to it?

No, I'm not doing any Google searches for you, Geezer.  The info's out there if you look it up.  Yes, I am against tax subsidies going to any Tom, Dick & Harry - with absolutely no education or experience in fuel technology, the environment, or what it takes to make my car go - and has their hands out for "FREE" money that's being passed out for bio fuels, wind, and solar energy.  Esp. when said T D & H aren't putting up their PRIVATE funds.  I personally think the oil industry is behind these false R & D schemes.  When all is said and done they can say, "See?  We tried to encourage alternate energy ideas and they all went bust.  Let's drill."

But the point of my post was - and still is - here we go with another rah! rah! article on the railport and the reporter had the audacity to regurgitate what Steve Ames told her without checking the facts.  The railport has NO tenants.  Just a big empty building.

Too bad more people didn't do the Google search.

BTW, where is the "big empty building" in the railport?
